FAQ

I’ve been in an accident.  What should I do now?

First, make sure all vehicle drivers and passengers are ok and call an ambulance even for minor injuries.  Adrenaline can surge during traumatic events and might mask a deeper injury.  Always be cautious about the health of all those involved.

2nd – Report your accident to the local law enforcement agency.

3rd – If law enforcement is not needed or unavailable to come to the scene you should exchange names, addresses and registration information with all those involved in the accident.

4th – Call your Auto Insurance company and report the accident.

Last but not least, contact Elmwood Collision Center for collision repair, towing, rentals or with any questions about your collision repair needs.

How quickly will my vehicle be repaired?

Accidents and collision damage are always a big inconvenience.  We will share all the information about the process and communicate with you once the damage is assessed and our repair plans are approved by the insurance company.  That requires careful inspection and disassembly of all the components damaged in the accident.  Sometimes more damage is found after the initial estimate which can cause delays.  Parts shortages have been more common the last few years due to the pandemic.  Some high end luxury vehicles can take longer due to these delays.  Please keep that in mind but rest assured we will keep you informed!

Do I need an estimate?

Yes! Insurance companies will often send an appraiser to your home or our body shop to assess the damage and prepare an estimate.  If you plan to fix the vehicle yourself, we can provide a free estimate.

Can I get extra work done on my vehicle not related to the accident?

Certainly! Elmwood Collision can repair other minor damage or deterioration to your vehicle that’s not due to the accident.  We will provide an estimate and you can pay us directly for those services if not covered by your insurance company.
